"I shall be satisfied, when I awake with thy likeness" (Psalm 17:15).

There are several scriptures informing us that the Lord's people will ultimately be like Him, and regardless of the way, or ways, that they will be like Him, their conformity to His image (See Romans 8:29) will be unspeakably wonderful. When they reach that blessed state, in the resurrection, they will then, and ever more, be satisfied. This alone, if we had nothing else to base it on, would amply show us that heaven, and our state therein, will be everything we could wish it to be, for however it may be, we will be satisfied with it. Everything will be exactly as we would have it, and of course, exactly as it should be. If there were any sorrow there of any kind, it would not be heaven, and we could not be satisfied. If there was anything lacking that we desired, or anything superfluous that we did not like, we could never be perfectly content with our situation there and would probably not wish to stay there forever.

John tells us that in the glorified state we will be like Christ and we will "see him as he is" (I John 3:2). And with this knowledge what does it matter that we are presently left lacking in details? To be like Christ and to have a clear spiritual sight of Him, unmarred by the veil of nature, is enough. What more could we desire?

Paul tells us that when Christ returns He will "change our vile body" and fashion it like unto His glorious body (See Philippians 3:20-21). And in that glorified body we will be able to enter fully into the joy of our Lord, seeing the glories of heaven with perfect sight and hearing the music of heaven with anointed ears. Sin will be left behind and there will be nothing to restrain or dampen our endless delight.

And though "it does not yet appear what we shall be," Job shows us that we will each have our own identity (Job 19:27). He said he would see the Lord for himself, and that his eyes would behold, and not another. Even though there will be a glorious sense in which we will be "like Christ", it will still be us in a glorified body. And though we have never been completely and totally satisfied here in this present world, we will be satisfied in the next. This is a soul-cheering thought to those who love the Lord.
