Even the winds and the sea obeyed our Lord. Such was never before seen among men, and it elicited from them the startled inquiry as to what manner of man He was. Well might they wonder at a man who could tell the wind to stop blowing and it would obey Him; tell the waves to cease their raging and they would immediately become calm and serene; tell the lame to rise and walk, and they would forthwith take up their bed, and not only walk, but leap and run; tell the sick to be whole and they would there and then be free of their malady; and even tell the dead to arise and they would readily obey His command. Indeed, this was such manner of man as had never before been born of woman! This was God manifest in the flesh! and great is the mystery! (I Tim. 3:16). 

    Christ was the only man to live on the earth who was without sin; the only person to be conceived of the Holy Ghost, and born of a virgin. He was holy, harmless, undefiled, and separate from sinners (See Heb. 7:26), and yet He Who knew no sin was made sin for His people, that they might be made the righteousness of God in Him (See II Cor. 5:21). This is such a marvelous arrangement that it could only have been conceived in the mind of the Deity. It can only be revealed by the Spirit, and it can only be received by faith. 

    Christ never spent an idle moment, for He was ever in communion with His heavenly Father. He never spoke an idle word, never had an idle thought, and never did an idle deed. In a word, He always did those things that please the Father (See John 8:29). He knew the thoughts of men before they spoke, for He knew all things (See John 16:30). It was said of Him, "Never man spake like this man" (John 7:46), and how true that was. What a man! and not just a man! He was the God-man, the Saviour of His people. And He not only was but He is; "The same yesterday, and today, and forever" (Heb. 13:8). We hope to see Him one sweet day, and be with Him forever!
