"As thy days, so shall thy strength be" (Deut. 33:25).

To us as individuals the greatest proof of the truth of this promise is the fact that no matter how long we have lived upon the earth our strength has been equal to the demands of each day. The very fact that we are still alive proves the point. There was never a day when strength totally failed us and we did not have the grace to surmount the obstacles thereof. It did not matter how severe the trials nor how many of them there were, we survived them, and therefore the promise of God to Israel of old has proven true in our own case.

One of the greatest mistakes we make as poor, weak mortals, is to try to deal with tomorrow's troubles before they come. Sometimes our imaginations run away with us and we distress ourselves with peradventures. That is, we concern ourselves with what may be. We think that, at the present rate, such and such will surely transpire, and Oh, what a grievous thing it will be! But when we do this we go counter to the instruction of Christ when He said, "Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil (trouble) thereof" (Matt. 6:34). In other words, today's difficulties are enough for us to deal with, without distressing ourselves about what may happen tomorrow. We need to take things as they come and not forget to ask the Lord's help as we attempt to handle them in a way that brings honor to His name.

Let us remember that the key to successfully facing what lies ahead, whether it be today or tomorrow, is not in our own strength, but in the Lord and the strength He has promised us. Let us also consider that the patriarchs of old, the great champions of faith, "out of weakness were made strong" (Heb. 11:34), and in that strength they "waxed valiant in fight," and "turned to flight the armies of the aliens."

We simply need not try to face life leaning upon the feeble and fickle arm of flesh. We are much too weak and our foes are much too strong and formidable. But rather, let us go forth leaning upon our Beloved, for it is in Him alone that we will rise triumphant over the great mountains of trouble that lie in our path.
