"The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God"

That there is a God is so plain a reality it is surprising that anyone would deny it. All creation declares the existence of the Creator, and in a passive sense it proclaims His glory. An unfathomable creation bespeaks an unfathomable God. "The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth his handiwork" (Psalm 19:1). This is a wonderful truth, but not everyone will acknowledge it. Those who say in their hearts, There is no God, tell us some important things about themselves. We need not say anything with regard to what God calls them, but we can say with certainty that they are without excuse for their unbelief (See Romans 1:20). And we can also say with equal certainty that they have no personal acquaintance with God. Fortunately I have not known very many people who were willing to openly proclaim their infidelity. It takes a person with no fear of God whatsoever to brazenly assert that the Deity does not exist. I tremble for those who tremble not for themselves. It is a thing to be wondered at that anyone can observe the world around them and say there is no God. The intricacies of the human eye alone is enough to astound the wisest and most skilled of physicians. No man, no matter how far advanced in secular learning he may be, can explain what life is. David said, "I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well" (Psalm 139:14). David was a man acquainted with God from His youth. He lived and died in faith, as did all the patriarchs of old (See Heb. 11:13). This also is one of the most positive and unmistakable proofs of God and His work in their lives. The faith that would not fail them in life, did not faith them in death, and they could not relinquish it until it was swallowed up in full fruition. How blest were they! How blest have been millions of others! and how blest are we, if the Lord has made Himself known to us in covenant love.
