"To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? (Isaiah 40:25).

There is no being to whom we can liken God, for He is one of a kind. He is the only self-existent, uncreated and self-sufficient being in existence. He only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see" (See I Tim. 6:16). No other being can, in the least degree, begin to approach this description. The gods of men die with them. Such gods are created in the minds of men and dwell in darkness with them. They, like Dagon, fall on their faces unless propped up by their makers (See I Sam. 5:3).

There are religions in the world that declare God to be composed of flesh and bones the same as we, but numerous scriptures show this to be false. David said, "Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there." If God were composed of a body the same as ours, what would have prevented David from fleeing from His presence? Moses said, "The Lord he is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else" (Deut. 4:39). Again, If God were confined to a body such as ours, how could He be in heaven and on earth at the same time?

Indeed, who could we compare to Him? Who could be thought to be His equal, or even close to His equal? Where could we go to find such an one? Who but God can speak and it is done? Who but God can make a flea, to say nothing of a universe so large it defies man's feeble comprehension?

Who but God is so great that He fills all space, and yet condescends to dwell within the hearts of His people? Who but God can quicken vile sinners, turn them from their iniquities, and make them His servants? Who but God can raise the dead out of their graves and carry them safely to heaven? Who but God can cast the devil and his angels into a never-ending hell? None! No, not one! "On earth is not His equal!" There is no one to whom we can liken Him! "Let the redeemed of the Lord say so" (Psalm 107:2).
